Job Summary We are seeking an Optometry trained physician to join us in pursuit of high quality patient care to provide Optometry services including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and health maintenance.
The ideal candidate One to three years of optometry clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
Working knowledge of pharmacology and evidence-based treatments for eye conditions and diseases.
Excellent understanding of Healthcare Effectiveness Data & Information System (HEDIS) quality measures related to Ophthalmology.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making with a high degree of accountability.
Demonstrate competency in diagnosis and treatment to assure high standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
Patient-centered approach toward a positive patient experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Interest in Population Health Management.
Responsibilities Diagnose and treat a wide variety of eye disorders and formulate ongoing treatment and disease management plans.
Non-invasively treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system.
Provide care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction , including pre- and post- operative care.
Diagnose problems or impairments and prescribe corrective lenses.
May prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions.
Prescribe therapeutic measures to correct or conserve vision such as vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation.
Refer patients to ophthalmologists as needed.
Review patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Evaluate, diagnose and provide appropriate treatment and patient care.
Recommend suitable management for the patient, including but not limited to, preventive health recommendations and habits.
Provide relationship-centered care, taking into account the patient's psychosocial and physical needs.
Collect and record patient information, such as medical histories, reports and examination results.
Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
Communicate effectively with the clinical team to ensure total delivery of quality care.
Participate in medical staff educational programs and meetings.
Qualifications Doctor of Optometry Must hold Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPA) and Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) certifications Seeking both experienced - 2 years or above and newly trained providers Must pass National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) exam Must possess current, unrestricted New York State license or be eligible for licensure Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office Medical Office Hours of Operation Monday-Wednesday 8:
